The Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) is designed for senior managers, management consultants and academic professors who aim to develop and acquire high level competences and to further their career with the most advanced business degree program. Through the conduct of a rigorous doctoral research in management and business administration, the DBA program addresses the learning needs and objectives of senior business managers, management consultants and academic professors.
Over the three-year program, managers conduct research that, in most cases, focuses directly on their respective companies and business environment. Businesses thus benefit from research led by managers and by working with international academics in a challenging and supportive research community. In return managers enrolled in the program can produce, develop innovative ideas, and engage analytical tools within frameworks of their career. The DBA degree is delivered by Grenoble IAE-INP, UGA, the Graduate School of Management of the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA). The DBA is an international program operated by Grenoble IAE-INP, Université Grenoble Alpes in partnership with CEFCO Business Education in Switzerland. With more than 1100 students per year, CEFCO -, has been a leader in the field of executive business education in Switzerland (Swiss Romandie) for 30 years.
IAE-INP, UGA is the Graduate School of Management of the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) and currently operates the DBA program in Switzerland, China, and Morocco. It provides a unique opportunity for DBA students to present and discuss one's research work with Swiss, Chinese, or Moroccan senior managers during dedicated online seminars.

Flexible and innovative pedagogical organization
The structure of the program is divided in such a way that, during the first year, students attend 9 hybrid or online seminars (one every month), while throughout the second and third year, they must attend 4 seminars, one every 5 months. The first year seminars allow students to acquire the skills necessary to conduct doctoral research, to learn about the main research questions through a state of the art by major business administration disciplinary field and to prepare their doctoral thesis project.
The second and third year seminars allow students to present the progress of their work to other doctoral students and qualified professors in the framework of international online workshops.

One of the key objectives that motivates applicants to join our DBA program is the desire to be intellectually challenged in a meaningful way, which contributes to creating a wide range of future professional opportunities: lead more efficiently, teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs, expertise-based consulting opportunities, corporate governance roles, and more. The DBA also gives the opportunity to differentiate yourself from master’s level managers and to gain recognition. It often opens opportunities for corporate governance (e.g., board member) and strategic roles.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
The Doctorate in Business Administration is a three -year part-time program structured around two consecutive periods. It is designed to fit within the schedule of full-time professionals. The courses are organized in blocked seminars so that participants can continue their employment while pursuing their degree.
The Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) program is divided into two phases
Phase 1 (Year 1): Doctoral training and preparation of the research project
DBA students start by learning methods and techniques for research design, data collection, and data analysis to conduct research that meets doctoral standards. Students complete a series of 8 two-day research training seminars and workshops (one per month) that are held either online, or in Switzerland and France (residential mode). At the end of the first phase, the 10-15 pages research project is submitted and defended before a jury. The validation of the project leads to the delivering of the « certificate of research aptitude in business administration » and authorizes the doctoral student to continue in phase 2.
Phase 2 (Year 2-3): Doctoral research and preparation of the DBA thesis
Under the supervision of a qualified professor with expertise in the relevant discipline of management scholarship, DBA students conduct their research for two years. During this period, DBA students are required to prepare a relevant literature review and research design and to collect and analyse data following a rigorous academic protocol. The last step of the second phase is the writing of the doctoral thesis. The final doctoral thesis is defended before a jury of 4 qualified professors. Participants who successfully complete the program are awarded the Grenoble IAE-INP, UGA Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) degree.
